The use of exercise and fitness equipment often results in injury because of the high impact associated with using it. There are, however, various types of low impact exercise and fitness equipment available in the market. The three main types of low impact exercise equipment that you might consider buying are elliptical trainers, exercise bikes, and rowing machines. If you have enough space, then you should consider getting one of these low impact exercise machines for your home.

The first and most common low impact exercise and fitness machine is the exercise bike. Exercise bikes come in two forms – the upright form and the recumbent form. The upright form of exercise bike is similar to a normal bicycle in that the rider sits up straight while pedaling. The recumbent form allows the rider to recline while using the machine, thus reducing strain on the back while using the machine. The recumbent bike, while good for endurance training, does not provide a workout of the same intensity as an upright bike can. The standard bike mainly works the leg muscles. Both forms of exercise bike can be fairly affordable, with models available for as little as six hundred dollars.

The rowing machine is another type of low impact exercise and fitness equipment that you may wish to consider. It simulates the action of rowing a boat, helping to improve your cardiovascular health and strengthen the muscles in the upper body. The machine makes use of magnetism, air, hydraulics and water to create four different ways in which you can pull the machine. The rowing machine relies on a spinning fan to create air resistance when you pull on the mechanism. This simulates the actual experience of rowing. While a less expensive model can cost less than two hundred dollars, a more expensive model that is more durable and magnetic-based can cost thousands of dollars. No matter what model you choose to buy, however, you will still find it a fantastic option for exercising.

The last type of low impact exercise and fitness equipment that you might consider is the elliptical trainer. Using this machine involves standing on a pair of pedals and moving them around a wheel, making it resemble a hybrid between a regular treadmill and a stationary bike. Some elliptical trainers also include cross-training bars, allowing users to strengthen their arm muscles as well as their leg muscles. Elliptical trainers use two different types of brakes – friction brakes and magnetic brakes. Friction brakes tend to wear out easily so a machine that uses magnetic brakes would be the better choice. The width of your stride should also affect your choice of machines, as you should look for one that does not place your feet too far apart. A guideline for suitable stride width would be twenty inches. The cost of an elliptical trainer can range from less than five hundred dollars to thousands of dollars.

If you are thinking of buying exercise and fitness equipment, you should consider these three types of low impact exercise and fitness equipment. Low impact exercise equipment is excellent for regular exercise and helps to reduce the strain and injury from using regular high impact exercise equipment.

Fad diets don’t work period – So if you believe any of the following you need to change your view to lose weight.

1. Skipping meals helps you lose weight.

No it does not! it makes you hungrier as it creates huger cravings and actually causes you to over eat. You need to eat 5 meals a day.

2. Your metabolism is slower at night.

Your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night.

This fad diet myth comes from the fact that most people eat a larger proportion of calories in the evening and if your metabolism slows down then when you sleep these calories will turn to fat!

As your metabolism is not slower at night, it makes no difference when you eat – it’s the overall calories consumed that cause the damage not the time of day their eaten that matters.

3. Carbohydrates cause weight gain.

This is perhaps the most common fad diet myth. This myth has been promoted by high-protein fad diets on the market.

6. No Snacks

If you have time to eat 5 meals a day you won’t probably want to snack, if it’s three times a day a quick snack is a good idea.
At the end of the day, its total calories consumed in a day that counts not how you eat them.

A quick snack can help you stop overeating and keep your energy levels high.

7. Fat is bad for you

Fats are part of the natural food chain of humans and we all need a certain amount of fat to healthy, but we need good ones.

Bad fats increase the risk for certain diseases and good fats lower the risk. The key is to make sure your eating the right fats.

Fats that are actually healthy are referred to as “essential fatty acids.” These fats are required for overall health and lower risk of heart disease.

The reason oily fish is so good is that the essential fatty acids contained actually help your body burn fat more efficiently and protect against disease.
8. Cholesterol is bad for you

Cholesterol is a fatty substance that is made by the liver, we all need some blood cholesterol as it’s used to build cells and form hormones.

There is good and bad cholesterol.

Saturated fats in foods such as meat, cheese, cream, butter help raise LDL (low density lipoprotein) ‘bad’ cholesterol.

This then delivers cholesterol to the arteries. HDL (high density lipoprotein) – or ‘good’ cholesterol – transports cholesterol away from the arteries and back to the liver.
Simply avoid this group or eat in moderation

9. Dairy products make you fat.

Combined with calorie control, a dairy-rich diet can nearly double body-fat reduction and help you lose weight longer term

The reason is they contain the hormone calcitriol, which helps conserve calcium for stronger bones while sending a message to fat cells to convert less sugar to fat and burn more body fat.

10. There is a short cut way to lose weight

This is the myth promoted by all fad diets you can lose weight quickly and be healthy – No you cant. Our bodies are not designed to crash diet and fad diets sound easy but people end up being disappointed.

The only way to lose weight is to do it slowly, with a balanced diet.

Forget fad diets and lose weight the right way.

There are many quick diets out on the market today. The crash diets such as a diet to lose 10 lbs in 3 days is mostly just reduction of water weight. These diets are great for fat emergencies but very, very dangerous to follow as a way of life.

Always remember to consult a physician or your health care
professional before you begin any weight loss program.

This diet require that you spend an additional hour in some form of exercise during the three days. The exercise often reduces your hunger level and quick starts the metabolism. You don’t need to do calisthenics, a brisk walk or bike ride is enough to do the job.

It is a modification of the 1985 book and mistakenly gives credit to the Cleveland Clinic.
The diet requires strict adherence to a specific blend of foods. Although no one ever explained how the foods magically mix to create weight loss, most agree that the dramatic reduction of calories and water weight loss create the results.

Day one foods for the diet to lose 10lbs in 3 days:

Breakfast combines a cup of coffee or tea, sweetened with no more than 2 packets of artificial sweetener, 1/2 grapefruit or four ounces of grapefruit juice and a piece of whole wheat toast with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Lunch is a half-cup of tuna, another piece of toasted whole wheat bread and black coffee or tea.. Dinner consists of three ounces of any lean meat or poultry, a cup of each carrots and beans, one apple and a cup of vanilla ice cream.
Day two foods:
Breakfast for the second day finds an egg cooked any style, a banana and a piece of toast. It also includes coffee or tea. Lunch is a cup of tuna or cottage cheese with eight saltine crackers and coffee or tea. Dinner consists of two all beef franks, a half-cup of carrots, a half a banana, a cup of broccoli, and a half-cup of vanilla ice cream
Day three foods:
Breakfast for the third day gives an apple, one ounce of cheddar cheese, five saltine crackers and coffee or tea. Lunch on the second day adds a boiled egg and piece of toast to the ritual coffee or tea (with no more than 2 packets of artificial sweetener). Dinner for the final day of the diet is a cup of tuna, a cup of carrots, a cup of cauliflower, a cup of melon cubes and a half-cup of vanilla ice cream.

As you can tell the restrictions of food intake is great. This diet to lose 10 lbs in 3 days is dangerous if followed longer. It may be a great way to take off pounds quickly for a special event but never as a way of life.
